DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS (DSP)

We are looking for dedicated individuals who will help the people we support experience all that life has to offer.

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work directly with people who have developmental and/or intellectual disabilities to help them be independent at home and active in the community.

We have full- and part-time positions available. We supply all the training you will need – free of charge.

Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED
  •  Valid Maine driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Ability to attend mandated monthly staff meetings
  • In addition, we look for candidates who are compassionate, cooperative, patient and passionate about helping others.

Prior experience in the field is preferred and proficiency in American Sign Language is a plus in some residential homes. Certifications in CPR, Direct Support Professional, MANDT and CRMA are ideal, but not required. LEAP will provide paid trainings upon hire for those who do not have experience.

Full-time Float Position

We are looking for a well-trained, flexible and dynamic Direct Support Professional to join the team.

The right candidate will fill staffing needs as needed/requested at several LEAP programs. The rate of pay for this role is $18.00 an hour due to the high level of flexibility and responsibility required for this position. This may be an opportunity to share your experience, expertise and skills within other programs while enhancing your own professional growth.

To be considered, you must have excellent communication skills, flexibility and be comfortable working in diverse residential homes. The ability to think quickly, work in a team environment and adhere to LEAP’s mutual respect expectations is a must.

Ideal current certifications: CNA, MANDT, CRMA and DSP. LEAP provides free training for all staff members on these and other certifications. Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is preferred.
